#75: Girls Night at the Quality Inn. Despite the fact that I just recently met all these salsa/ballroom dancers, the girls of the group invited me to their hotel party! Because I’m sort of a “dude-girl” (I play video games, never go shopping, am an internet dork, love Walking Dead, etc…), most of my friends are guys, so it was nice being surrounded by girls for once. Actually, I can’t remember the last time I did something with JUST girls… possibly the summer before freshman year, when I drove up north with the choir girlies and stayed in a spider-infested cabin in Manistee. So, Girls Night was pretty refreshing — even if I did wake up with a fairly horrible wine hangover.
I also acquired this “tattoo.”
#76: New song on guitar – “Kiss Me.” While practicing a different song, I noticed that the shift between D and D7 sounded a lot like “Kiss Me”… then I looked it up, realized I already knew most of the chords, and learned it! It’s still a challenge to switch between chords in a timely fashion, and I still need to learn the lyrics… but it’s a start!
#77: New song on guitar: “The Way.” This was basically my summer anthem, so when it randomly played on my iPod while I was showering (seriously, music + shower = BEST THING EVER), I immediately thought to learn it on guitar. I found some chords online in a different key, but it was higher (which means, it’s actually in my vocal range, so yay). Also, I love 90s music
#78: Played new Call of Duty online multiplayer games. What I thought was only 1 hour turned out to be 3 hours of playing Call of Duty on Xbox Live with my friend Ozzy. And considering I started playing at 1 a.m., I ended up going to bed around 4 or 5 in the morning. WTF LAUREN. So, usually I only play Team Deathmatch, but I tried out this Capture the Flag (Ground Wars, I think?) game, and then Kill Confirmed.
#79-81: Went to Charlie Kang’s, did dinner with cousin. Hitting three birds with one stone! My cousin Sarah is a freshie here at MSU, and we’ve hardly seen each other so I decided to make dinner plans with her for the first time. She chose Charlie Kang’s, and I’ve never been there before… it was decent for the price, and I tried a new dish (Ho Fun, I think?), but did unspeakable things to my stomach afterward. Aaaand moving on…
#82: Tried a soft-boiled marinated egg. My friend Andrew made these soft-boiled eggs (marinated in soy sauce and, I believe, sake) earlier in the week, and offered me a half of the last one. Sorry Andrew, but I hated it. Hahah. Worth a try, though!
If only that was caramel on the inside and chocolate on the outside…
#83: Bussed to work. Well, this one was accidental, because I lost my car AND apartment keys somehow (90% they were stolen out of our apartment’s public restrooms), but I get to count it as a new thing, so mehhh. It was raining, so biking/walking was out of the question, which left me with the good ol’ CATA bus. Honestly, neither the wait or the ride was as bad as I thought it’d be, and since it’s WAY cheaper than parking fees, I might do this more often!
